RMweb Premium nigcuberail Posted January 16, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 16, 2019 Help Your assistance would be much appreciated in identifying & locating a component to repair a RRampMeter V1. The item is a small (8mm long x 3mm diameter) silver metal cylinder with 200AP6Z printed on it. I take it to be some type of capacitor as it's legs are (were!) soldered to the PCB at C4A. It was also heatshrunk for insulation. I have Googled 200AP6Z with no luck - can anyone assist with some information please? Thanks,
Nigelcliffe
Have you asked the maker ?
John ks
Could it be a quartz oscillator also called a crystal osscilator A photo might help the more tech savvy to identify it. John

John Item ringed - it is sleeved with heatshrink - I presume being metal cased?
Gordon H
As the device next to it appears to be a PIC16F873, I would suggest the component in question is a crystal, as the '873 does not have an internal oscillator. Also, it is near PIC pins 9 & 10 which are the crystal connections. Presumably the heatshrink is there to prevent accidental contact with other components nearby (especially the PIC). Thanks for the replies It seems I did not look far enough On the other side of the board is the outline of the component marked Y1 - so must be a crystal? I assume it would be something to do with the display (which is not working)? The PIC reads: 16F872-I/SO
RMweb Premium nigcuberail Posted January 21, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted January 21, 2019 Update on this for reference: It is indeed a crystal and according to the engineer who designed it for Tony's Trains (info provided by a kind US based MERG member) it is a 20mHz crystal. So I now just have to find one
