What and where is this?

Recommended Posts

Well done.

Yes, the middle flangless driver of a 9F. In this case 92207 at the lesser known location of the Shillingstone Station Project in Dorset.

A new cab has been constructed for the loco, though the rusting original remains and was used as a pattern for the new one. Think this must be the original numbering; note the spacing isn't quite even; also just a "9" rather than "9F". I've seen a picture of the original loco just after construction and you can make out the slight uneven spacing on that.

The Project is well worth a visit; managed to pick up a couple of books - Power & Profile of The Duchesses - for under £10 for the pair.

They will need a big soldering iron for that kit! ;) Love the old cab side pic.
