Penlan
So had my notification of this years increases today: State Pension - Nil Occupational - Nil Tax Code - Lower, Net result - same as I was getting at April 2007. Not helped by that 10p to 20p basic tax increase a year or two ago.
RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted April 26, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 26, 2010 So had my notification of this years increases today: State Pension - Nil Occupational - Nil Tax Code - Lower, Net result - same as I was getting at April 2007. Not helped by that 10p to 20p basic tax increase a year or two ago. Not yet old enough for State Pension, but my UK occupational pension also said nil increase, but pointed out that cost of living in the UK - which I don't - had actually dropped in the preceding year. When we moved here in 2004, the £ was worth 1.50 euro. Today it is about 1.15. You make your bed - and you lie in it!
Mike at C&M
We had our Pensions advisor with us this morning, and she proudly boasts that she doesn't have a private pension! Fills you with confidence, doesn't it!
RMweb Premium Bernard Lamb Posted April 26, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 26, 2010 Don't start me off. I had a new tax code in the post today. Well actually five different letters. Three of them relate to small private pensions. However, the coding notices did not state which pension payment number that they applied to. Twenty minutes waiting on the HMRC phone line while being told that 'lots of information is available on our web site' left me rather grumpy. Eventually I was put through to some body who took all the details. I now await the next round. More complex is the pre and post 1997 parts of my pension that carry inflation proofing at different rates. I think the increase comes to 28p per week.
