Have i busted my tts class 40 chip

i've got a Hornby tts class 40 chip, i put it in my Kernow Bulleid and as such have had to play around with cv settings. I got it to a good point of running but i suspect the start voltage was not right as the loco only started to move when i got to 7-8 (28 speed step). I changed  cv2=10 and since then i've not been able to do anything with the chip, the loco does not move, i can't read from the chip or set a cv value, i also can't reset the chip by setting cv8=8.

Have i busted the chip?

I don't think TTS allows changes to CV2 which is normally the start voltage on other decoders.

On my NCE Powercab I have a Program Track CV7 "recovery mode" which reverts a chip to it's factory state.  When I do this the loco judders slightly along the Program Track and it seems to cure all problems.  I've a feeling that this CV7 option is not the same as doing a CV8=8 as when I try a CV8 reset the loco doesn't judder.

So if you have a Powercab, or know anyone who does, you could try that.

Edit - Just tried to read back CV2 from a TTS decoder on the Powercab.  Result: "Cannot read CV"  Also tried reading it on JMRI - no luck either.

Yet my Powercab would let me put a value into CV2 which needless to say I didn't try as I wouldn't know what to put it back to!

Second edit! - Just spotted this gem of information on the NCE website:

"It is always a good idea reboot your system and the decoder after a factory reset. Some decoders might not be completely reset until the power is removed and restored. Similar to rebooting a PC after it is updated."

I never knew that until now!  Which actually now explains why in the past after I tried a factory reset on a decoder one evening but it still didn't work.  But when I tried it again the next day it was "miraculously" cured!
