WIMorrison
Does anyone know the proper designation for the 2.5mm plugs please? I need to buy some and I cannot find them anywhere - except this pair on ebay - and I want more
PSi
2.6 mm banana plugs or 'Marklin' plugs. E.g. here: https://www.conrad.com/search?search=2.6%20mm%20jack%20plugs&searchType=regular (I'm sure a UK suppliers also exits) pekka

WIMorrison
@PSi the clue was the Marklin plug - searching on the turned them up from Marklin, Brawa, Viessmann and a host of others.
RMweb Premium ELTEL Posted February 11, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 11, 2020 Definitely “Banana Plus” No idea why. They have been around a long time as I can remember them from the 60s while at college Often used in test equipment as the hole in plug you could put a test meter probe. terry
Crosland
Many moons ago Lego used something similar but they may have been smaller.
PSi
From the wikipedia (about standard 4 mm banana plug): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Banana_connector#History "-- The pin's diameter is nominally 4 millimetres (3⁄16 in). The pin has one or more lengthwise springs that bulge outwards slightly, giving the appearance of a banana [bunch]. --" pekka Edited February 11, 2020 by PSi
johnb
I use a slightly bigger variety it's called the '4mm banana plug'. Ideal for interboard linking of a DCC bus between boards on a portable exhibition layout. Provided one uses different colours for each cable!! They are pretty robust having been used for several years on one layout.

Be careful to check when shopping around!
