I have a couple of these Alan Gibson GLA4 gearboxes and the gears look quite fine, but the instructions are quite vague

As far as fitting the gearbox to the bracket its clear

Do you solder the axle bearings to the motor mount and if so is this with the motor and worm fitted/inplace to set the spacings ?

Secondly as the gear wheel needs sticking to the axle is it for Horn block mounting only?

Any advice is most welcome even if it is sell them to someone who knows what they are doing, as they are just sitting in my spares racking unit doing nothing and I have some chassis to build

If I was to guess, I'd say the box is assembled with the gear on the axle and the bearings in the slot and then the bearings are soldered in place which would fix it.

I can't see what could be gained by having the gearbox seperate/removable and how you would keep it meshed if you did.
