Help on signalling Shaftesbury please.

For a start, you need trap points at each end of the run-round loop as well as at the exit from the sidings.

 

When do you imagine that the original line/station was built, as this will have an impact also?

 

If they've  built a line to Shaftesbury, I hope they've got a good supply of banking engines !!

Thanks for the reply. Built c1890 after the good folks of Shaftesbury got fed up walking to Semley to catch a train! Mind you the new route wasn't much better as it terminated at the bottom of the hill not far from St James.......either that or it converted to a rack and pinion railway!!

I'd have the run-round loop join the line going to the sidings just above the catch point, then you get a longer loop.

 

Signalling is then very simple - a starter at the end of the platform, a ground signal just before the catch point, another at the toe of the point on the headhunt. The incoming signals would all be the other side of the bridge, and would consist of a home signal for passenger trains and a shunt signal for goods and to allow the loco back in after running round.
