I know that in the early 90s bath rd intercity 47s worked several trains a day from Lime St, to Dover, Paddington , Edinburgh (to preston) . The Poole and Birminghams tended to be 86 hauled.

Now my question, is where would the 47s have overnighted, would it be Edge Hill, Crewe Diesel or even Longsight?

By my calculations both the 0644 to Dover and 0907 to Edinburgh started their day at Lime St so just interested to know where the ECS would have come in from.

Thanks !

The stock would most probably been from Edge Hill and quite possibly the Class 47 as well.  As I don’t know the area, is it possible that the loco was fuelled and replenished at Edge Hill while the stock was being cleaned?

Almost certainly Allerton.

Used to see everything there in that era, Scotrail 47s in particular for some strange reason. Occasionally NSE ones from Stratford.

It was always a case of keep an eye out when going past as often there was a "cop".

Scotrail 47s would frequently use Trans-Pennine services to get home from overhaul at Crewe Works
