Crewlisle
My layout has not been used for sometime & am currently starting to bring everything 'back to life'. The one I have read conflicting suggestions about is small cylindrical point operating solenoids. They do not have polarity switches on them. I have been thinking of giving them a squirt of either 'Solvisol10' or WD40 whilst operating them a few times. Will this do the trick or is there something better? RMweb Gold Dagworth Posted January 17, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 17, 2021 Servisol is probably the better option. I believe that WD40 is likely to leave a residue that will thicken over time. Andi
DCB
WD 40 has an evil reputation with my Father in Law who is a clock maker as it initially frees up mechanisms and then forms a form of gunge which gums up the works and takes hours to remove. WD 40 is primarily a Water Dispersant, we used to use it to get cars going when the distributor cap and leads got wet. The last sticky solenoid I had was an Hammant and Morgan and I sprayed it with 3 in 1 oil from a small spray can I bought in Poundland
