exmoordave
Good afternoon everyone I was wondering if anyone could help me any suggestions concerning painting a platform surface for my new 4mm layout please? I want to paint it a sun- bleached grey colour - as in worn tarmac, and wondered if anyone has used a light grey paint - preferably a spray if possible, at least for the first/second coat? A couple of the grey spray paints I've tried before always seem to end up darker than I had hoped. Anyway, I hope you all stay safe and many thanks in advance exmoordave
Ray Von
Worn out emery paper doubles very well for worn tarmac, personally I have always modelled my platforms as concrete - as such I use beige with a light black/brown wash and then dry brushed beige once more, with white highlights. To my mind, concrete (aged at least) is rarely grey!
RMweb Gold ianLMS Posted February 10, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 10, 2021 (edited) Once the paint has dried, dust talc powder or white weathering powder over it to tone it down. I used Anita Decor bark paint to add texture to the surface before dusting over. Edited February 10, 2021 by ianLMS
