RMweb Gold AndrueC Posted February 20, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 20, 2021 I've just noticed that the coupling rod on one side of my Graham Farish 4-6-2 Queen Elizabeth is free wheeling. Is this is an easy fix or something best left to an expert? It doesn't seem to be in danger of coming loose. It appears to be attached to the axel via a bracket but the bracket is not moving as the axel rotates. Thanks.
Ray Von
Do you mean that it's become detached? Have you got a picture of the fault you could share?

Have you got a picture of the fault you could share? No. It's not detached. The bracket the rod attaches to can be rotated independently of the wheels. Two pictures attached showing how I was able to move the attaching bracket even though the loco wheels haven't moved.
Gareth Collier
It's held in place by the nut which would suggest it is slightly use. A small turn to tighten it is required and should solve the problem. If you've not got a hex spanner that fits a gentle tweak with tweezers to tighten it should be sufficient.
