The signal box, which was only 6' x 6', was installed in 1902.  The station was subject to almost complete reconstruction during the 1890's.  The original loco shed, located at the end of the single platform, was taken out of use and demolished in 1894. The booking office and ticket hall was extended in 1896, and the siding that formerly served the engine shed was extended to form the bay platform in 1898, by which time the platform was almost doubled in length.  The goods shed was built in 1900, probably in conjunction with the additional sidings, and the signal cabin installed in 1902, presumably the small hut that appears on the early OS map about half way along the original platform was the old signal cabin and remained in use until the new box arrived. Sadly there seem to be no photos covering these changes and no drawings of the box or cabin. (Source The Hayling Railway by Peter Paye 2nd Edition)
