Having had an 00 gauge layout some years ago which has been sold I am now planning an n gauge layout.I still have the controllers from the 00 layout and am wondering if these will be suitable to operate the n gauge.

The controllers are the following, H&M Clipper and OnTrack MPC 3/2.

I have heard in the past that n gauge require a different controller to 00, any advice would be welcome.

I'd dispose of the Clipper as "obsolete old stuff" which may contain toxic things such as asbestos and selenium, regardless of scale/gauge  (even when new, before we worried about the toxic stuff, they weren't very good at controlling N gauge stock).

I know nothing about the OnTrack device.

The widely available Gaugemaster, and slightly more niche Morley brands seem fine.  With Gaugemaster stick to the yellow-faced models, not the black-faced "feedback" types.
Or there are numerous other options including various levels of DIY assembly.
