Hello

I just logged into my Flickr account, a Pro version with unlimited storage thanks to being a member before it was bought, ruined and then flogged by those imbeciles at Yahoo.  I have just been confronted with a screen asking me to update my personal details, information that from November, payment charge becomes monthly and would I kindly tell them my full credit card details please!

Anyone else encountered this sudden iffy looking screen?

Needless to say my response to this request until I can confirm it is legit was a well know two word Anglo-Saxon phrase ending in ...off!'

  • John M Upton changed the title to Flickr - Latest idiotic idea or possible phishing attempt?

Certainly sounds dodgy.

Probably best to try logging on from another device, and run a full AV scan on the one you used. Also check that the SSL certificate is showing as valid (the little padlock in the address bar of your browser - if you click on that you shoudl see "Certificate (Valid)" - click on that and you should see "issued to: flickr.com" )

i am flickr pro and not had any thing like that do's sounds like a scam to me

did you get a screen shoot because the help forum can be very helpful in these types of things and let you know one way or the other

also looked on the help forum no mention of payments going monthly  as this would be a hot topic

Edit just look at my payment area in my account and still gives the option to pay for a year

This may help :- https://www.flickr.com/help/forum/en-us/72157717111668177/

Flickr has changed payment processors a couple of times now, I think, and the first change required payment details to be given to the new processor, or else the payment defaulted to a monthly basis. I think this is correct. I renewed last year for a year after giving details to the then new processor.

I think at that time Flickr stated that when a renewal date was due in 60 days, a popup such as you describe would appear. Searching the Help Forum further should bring up more info.

Hope this helps.

Colin
