Zimo mx617f not working/cant be read

Hi, I've just installed a zimo mx617f into a new Hornby peckett b2. The loco has been ran in on DC and works perfectly.

 

With the decoder installed there is no response either to run on address 03 and when on the programming track the controller (digitrax zephr express) just says program track empty. The decoder has already been back to the supplier who have checked it and said it's ok. Any one had this before and got any ideas how to resolve?.

If the decoder is OK then it must be the connection between the decoder and loco.

Can you use a multi meter to check the continuity between the loco wheels and the decoder socket and also the continuity between the motor terminals and the decoder socket

Basic stuff with a 6-pin:  is the decoder in the right way round ?   They'll fit backwards, but won't program and won't drive the motor.   

 

Do you have an alternative place to plug in a six pin ?  Either another loco or a decoder test unit ? 

 

 

If the supplier says the decoder is working correctly, then its unlikely to be the decoder itself.

Turns out the wire wasn't connected on pin 4 on the loco side of the connector. Top quality quality control thanks Hornby..... Anyway it works now.
