RMweb Gold Darius43 Posted June 18, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 18, 2021 Always wanted a rail blue Class 09 but Hornby and Bachmann have never produced one and the old Lima one is too much like hard work. So today I have been mainly repainting a Railfreight Grey Hornby 09. I still need to add number and BR arrow decals etc. and do some weathering. rob D2
Looking good. Hornby aren’t exactly adept at chucking out liveries 1

Pete the Elaner
I did not realise they had not produced one. The 08/09s seemed to cling on to rail blue for longer than most locos & there are few places in the UK where one would not look out of place. Nice finish & subtle weathering.
TRAILRAGE
Lovely looking. Cannot understand why Hornby or even Bachmann for that matter have never done a Banger Blue 09. I've also done this but used a Cotswold Rail 08 as a Basis as I had managed to get one at a cheap price. Hand painted for that slightly scruffy look. Its copied form a mix of different Photos from different eras. One side has yellow cranks the other Black. I was going to do Pre-tops on one side but couldn't find a pic of it. Not happy with the Double arrow either so will have to be replaced when I get some more.
