RMweb Premium Kris Posted July 16, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 16, 2021 Recently I purchased a copy of the 1953 service timetable for Cornwall. On receiving this it appears to be far more of a working timetable, complete with freight and light engine moves. Did terminology change at some point in the past? I've included a couple of photos to show what I am seeing.
RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted July 16, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 16, 2021 (edited) The GWR name for a Working Timetable was a Service Timetable and this dated back well into broad gauge days judging by the examples I have for that time. (as I explained recently in the Lampeter thread). The WR continued to use the GWR term and Section Numbers for some years after nationalisation. They were still STTs as late as 1954 and the original Section numbers were still in use then but by 1957 or 1959 they had become WTTs and the older Section Numbers had gone. What I have not been able to trace are any Sectional Appendixes issued between the early 1950s (corresponding with the STT Section Numbers) and 1960 when the WR were definitely using the standard format for such publications.
