When I saw the thread title, I thought it was the name of one of those faux-independent-revival pubs that crop-up every now and then in London. "The Boar and Stolen Laptop" has that ring about it.

Now I know what the sign-painter would have to depict. Thank you.

I assume you're referring to USB sockets on the laptop.

A bit more "amusing" than the boss/secretary ones...    And provided you position the scene with the bloke running away from the viewer*, almost tasteful!

What did annoy me was the headline

Naked German on wild boar chase is must-have model for toy railways

Its about time lazy journalists got away from this stereotypical characterisation.

Busch Employee: "Evening dear, whats for dinner?"

Mrs Busch Employee: "Schnitzel and fried potatoes". "Good day at work darling?"

Busch Employee: "Not bad". "New range now going into production". "Helmet says painting the c... and b.... is proving problematic though".......

I would hope that she has a snowballs chance in hell of conducting a successful legal action against the model company, because that could have alarming implications regarding the constructing of models from photographs.

I'd agree - I don't see what Adele Landauer's grounds for any legal action would be.  She took the photographs, so will presumably have been paid by the newspapers who have published her pictures in newspapers or online.  Provided Busch Modellbau only use photographs of the model, then they are not, as far as I am aware, breaking her copyright as the photographer.  They are simply taking inspiration from an event which was reported in the media to which her photographs were used to accompany the story.  Perhaps she feels that without her photographs, there wouldn't have been a story and therefore she should be paid for providing the inspiration.  I'd argue that she has been paid when the photographs were published and that is all she is entitled to.

Arguably the gentleman who is being represented would have a better chance of taking legal action (ie he could claim Busch Modellbau are making fun of him), but in the similar article on Metro, it states that "Adele Landauer, who took the now-famous images and got permission from the subject to share them online", so if he was content for Adele to post photographs of him naked and share his story, then I doubt he'd have much grounds against a small lump of human shaped plastic inspired by the story.

Once an artist can successfully sue someone just for providing them with inspiration, then I would conclude, that the reach of copyright and Intellectual Property law has gone too far.

So it's a bare bear chasing a bold, brazen boar with a bag?

Have you watched the video model reviews on Sam's Trains? He films himself running trains round loops of track laid on the carpet. YouTube videos have a very wide public penetration, so the Times isn't being unreasonable in imagining that's where our hobby still is.

I'm slowly developing the opinion that they're a strange lot at Busch.  :scratchhead:

But aren't the Germans into public nudity anyway, so a model is right up the Kyber Pass!
