Rail-Online
Hi, This is part of an ECS train and I assumed it was a catering vehicle but there is no sign of wording on the side. Sorry it is so dark -poor neg. Cheers Tony
Steamport Southport
GWR Kitchen Car? I think it's one of the ones that were rebuilt in the 1940s with the sliding vent windows. Might be a Restaurant Composite. Dining vehicles aren't my thing.... Jason Edited August 19, 2021 by Steamport Southport

Jason Certainly looks to have a double door for the pantry at the far end and a roof tank filler over the centre section.
Steamport Southport
I did think Inspection Saloon, but that doesn't seem right. Jason
BernardTPM
Is it one of the GWR special saloons, possibly 9006/7? Need to source a few photos to check it though. On further checking, it isn't either. Edited August 19, 2021 by BernardTPM
Wickham Green too
Shouldn't a Special Saloon have end windows ?
RMweb Gold TheSignalEngineer Posted August 19, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 19, 2021 Think it may be one of these. https://rcts.zenfolio.com/coaching-stock/gwr/other/hA86FE772 Cafeteria car W9660W, rebuilt from Diag H49, ex Diag H31 articulated stock of Lot 1358. Away from my books at the moment so I don't know how many there were. 1
Rugd1022
Can't help with the coach and it would help to pin the date down if we could see a bit more of the Western - if it is 1962 it'll be one of the maroon ones with no yellow warning panel which appeared that year, this gives us D1001, D1005, D1006, D1007, D1008, D1009, D1010, D1039, D1040, D1041, D1042 or D1043. Away from my books at the moment so I don't know how many there were. They were the built in 1925 as kitchen cars for dining triplets, originally numbered 10003/11/19/27/35/43. Rebuilt by GWR in 1937 to kitchen cars 9657 - 9662. Rebuilt by BR 1956 to Cafeteria Cars 9657- 9662. Sources J H Russell and Michael Harris
Steamport Southport
Yippie. So partly right. I'll take that! To be honest I didn't think of looking at the articulated sets. Jason
Rail-Online
Thanks Gentlemen, Cafeteria car W9660W it is then, there is no more neg of the Western -it is only just in the image, the main purpose of which was a Large Prairie. The Longworth books will give the withdrawl dates so may be more clues there.
