zoomer1979
Hey there. Been through a fruitless search this past week. I'm looking for either an etched or transfer of the hire plaques the 50s had on them when new. I know some models had them where appropriate, but I'm backdating mine to be an LMR example. Any thoughts on who or where does them? TIA Neil.
johnd
Don't think the term "hire" is right in what your thinking. English Electric " Leased " the locos initially to BR and from memory all the locos had the plates fitted when new as ownership was with the builder. Rail-Online
I thought Brian at Shawplan as part of their 'Etreme Etchings' range did one - I supplied a pic to him years ago! Tony
Rail-Online
They were only 9 1/2" x 3 1/2" - there is a pic here: https://www.gwra.co.uk/auctions/br-diesel-class-50-leasing-plate-this-locomotive-i-2019nov-0365.html Tony
zoomer1979
Thanks Tony, had a look through their catalogue and couldn't find a listing for it, either in nameplates or detail packs etc. I'll send them an email as they seem most likely to have done them.
