RMweb Gold Robert Shrives Posted October 28, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 28, 2021 Well a quick pic showing power car variations in the NMT .. "Peek" cream cleaner used to remove blue lines form a pair and then renumbered using railtec transfers. I have seen a pic with another wording variation but cannot find it now so perhaps another pair to come.. coaches also on bench with 3 with panto wells and others to add to the Gauge master set - the power cars are the bottom pair straight from box. These come with etched plated - 4 of John Amitt used on middle pair. and 4 more for 43014- railway observer- and a micro plate for the info panel below. The PC printed version are perhaps 98% so etched ones cover completely which is a good touch. Robert
RMweb Premium newbryford Posted October 28, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 28, 2021 (edited) There were more than the current three power cars in yellow (43013/43014/43062). 43089 "Hayabusa" as part of the battery/hybrid test with 977996. 089 had HITACHI branding as well as nameplates. It went back into normal service with FGW. There were three more painted in yellow with small NwR logo that were possibly destined to form another NMT Somewhere, I've seen a pic of the "normal" NMT with a yellow PC that wasn't any of those numbered above, but can't immediately track it down. Pre-2010 IIRC. edit: found the numbers 43067, 43154 and 43196. Flickr pics: 43067 43154 43196 Edited October 28, 2021 by newbryford 2
RMweb Gold Robert Shrives Posted October 29, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted October 29, 2021 Thanks for pics I was aware of the others and lately quite a few others in EMR/ colas fleet have turned up as well. Interestingly (perhaps?) the Dapol twin packs had a twin blue line and I have models with a twin black line , Railtec do and have ordered the blue line but did they ever have a black twin line? So much fun with 6 HST vehicles , who would have thought.

It'd be interesting to see evidence that they did carry a twin black line (and if a model had them then that's never a guarantee of course that the real thing ever did). From all the detail images I have - including my own - I can only see twin blue lines. But, every day is a school day and so if they did ever carry a twin black line then I can very easily release a parallel pack.
RMweb Gold Robert Shrives Posted October 29, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted October 29, 2021 Steve, I have been bounding around the internet looking network rail yellow things and bananas- a zillion pics and not always easy to tell but as of yet unable to confirm the black lines, but way back when Hurst models did some transfers with a black line, so perhaps early days it did. Chris M
Looks like you’ve got a bad case of yellow fever there Robert. Looking forward to seeing them on Broadwater Junction sometime. I’m afraid I can’t allow them on Dawlish Warren because they are out of era.

It is worse I have all sorts of RTC yellow stuff and earlier test liveries, I should seek medical attention I guess but it keeps me happy! Hope to get to Warley local soon enough. RMweb Gold Revolution Ben Posted October 29, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 29, 2021 Hi Robert, 43013 had black lines in 2008, as can be seen in the contrast with the blue Network Rail lettering on this image by Robert McCullock on Flickr. cheers Ben A.
RMweb Gold Robert Shrives Posted October 29, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted October 29, 2021 Thanks for that Ben, It is so hard to tell but the tonal comparison is all we have to go on , in some light the lines defo look blue what is interesting in this pic is the line stops at the door but often seen to go past to below the window - will now go back and check how it looked in 2003. The coach behind is the oddity with a grey roof all the other HST roofs being black - if they were dark grey then soon dirty. I would suggest the PC has a grey roof looking at streaking on the roof dome and shoulders above back windows. Robert
RMweb Premium Steadfast Posted October 29, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 29, 2021 What a collection of power cars! Something else that should be a quick fix is to paint the ends of the power cars black on the initial Dapol release with the yellow inner ends. Right from when the train launched in 2003, I've never seen a photo with yellow inner ends. Jo
