45669
Evening All, As well as 1960s style steam trains at the Isle of Wight Railway Steam Railway1960s Weekend, there were a few 1960s vintage motor cars and 1960s music. One of the groups that performed there was a local group from Ventnor called 'The Hillmans' and I videoed some of their numbers. This one is 'The Sloop John B', a massive hit for the Beach Boys in 1966: TTFN, Ron. 4

45669
Although it was a 1960s themed weekend, their next number was slightly later as it was a big hit for T.Rex in 1971: Ron.
45669
I've just learnt that the guitarist is Dick Taylor who was a schoolfriend of Mick Jager and Keith Richard; they formed a group which later became the Rolling Stones. Dick Taylor left, but later he formed another group, the Pretty Things. In this clip The Hillmans play 'Not Fade Away' which was a big hit for The Stones in 1964 and, prior to that, Buddy Holly in 1957: TTFN, Ron.
