Removing Weathering and Transfers/Decals

I recently bought a wagon for a project but it was weathered (which I don't overly like on the model) as well as having GW lettering on which I also don't need. What would be the best way to remove the two from the model. It is having a tarpaulin put over the wagon so removing the varnish etc isn't the biggest worry to me.

try a bit of T Cut on a cotton wool bud.. depends on what weathering has been done with.

I presume this would just be the normal T Cut and not any of the specific ones (ie scratch remover etc)?

yep, just common and garden T cut
