I’ve had the decoder on the lokprogramer is it possible I’ve messed some up?

I have tried resetting cv 8 to 8 no different when the loco is Stationary no sound form f1 but it works when running and all other sounds work

could I have turned the volume down by mistake as I can hear a faint popping sound when I press f1

Read the data from the decoder with the LokProgrammer.
Take a look at the mapping list.
Check whether the condition "only when driving" has accidentally been set for F1.

thanks Hamburger

I've not found the mapping list

just to check what should it be set to ? ignore, yes,no

thanks for all your help

Thanks everyone for your help

Found the function mapping button and made sure that F1 'driving' is set to 'ignore'

but it’s still not working

is there a way to check what sound is assigned to f1 ? When to loco isn’t moving?

Anyone know where I can get a decoder reblow via email that’s not too expensive

Driving is set to Yes on your first picture. It needs to be on Ignore or F1 will only operate while the loco is moving.

i've now set driving to ignore .but I'm still only geting sound while the loco is moving

could it be that the volume for that part of the sound has been turned off? is there a CV i can check ?

or could i have lost that part of the sound file ?

If i remember correctly...Hornby had some odd methods for building their sound projects...... in that they used to mix other functions with there drive sounds.....for example.....

with F1 on the class 31, Hornby constantly played the fan sound..... and i found it was possible to turn this off...so only the engine sounds played....im speculating if your problem is actually another function thats been disabled or turned off that they were playing with the drive function.....is there a "hiss" function? as obviously a steam loco doesent make a lot of noise when stationary...so there isnt a equivilent engine drive sound for a steam loco.....can you post your screenshot of the function list...without it being obscured by the menu... but also might be worth checking if any other functions have been inadvertantly set as per f1..

hope that makes sense im trying to find a way of explaining it better...

Just an update to bring this post to a conclusion

I now have the sound working again.

I have used a dc kits princess royal sound file and I’m very happy with it. I would say it’s the best UK steam sound I have it’s up there with my big boy and Roco S160.£20 well spent

I think the original sound file was corrupt or had a bit missing

thanks, everyone for your help
