Esmedune
Good Morning campers! I've just picked up a non-working Dapol Class 52, that claims to not be functioning in the motor department. I have taken the top off to grab a peek and there is a card on the pins, but having not seen the blanking plate for a Dapol, I just want to double check. If it is a blanking plate, it is a posh one, as it has two slide switched to illuminate either or both cabs on DC. Can anyone just confirm that is what it is? A second question concerning a base board... Are the two unmarked contacts in the lower right corner a placement for an additional capacitor?
WIMorrison
Looks like a blanking card that is designed to facilitate switching of LEDS when used on DC 1
jpendle
Dapol don't have a "standard" Next 18 blanking plate. They have added switches for lights to most of the others that I have seen. The newer CL66's have a similar arrangement. The model would have come with instructions to describe what the switches are for, these might be available on the Dapol website. Regards, John P
RMweb Gold Kaput Posted December 23, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 23, 2021 Its just one of the standard new Dapol blanking plugs that have switches to control the lights on DC. No idea about the contacts but if they were actually for something I'd assume they'd be labelled.

Regards, John P Looks like a 21 pin blanking plate rather than a Next 18. Shouldn't the “TRK-L” contact on the main board have a track feed wire soldered on - presumably the same for the “TRK-R” contact on the other side? Cheers Darius
RMweb Gold Kaput Posted December 24, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 24, 2021 The track and motor wires on those PCB's are usually soldered underneath so hard to tell from the angle of the image if anything is missing.

Esmedune
Well, this turned out to be a bargain. I picked it up for £70 on ebay as not working, and you can see from the image that C10 had been soldered incorrectly. So it has never works, and after a 30 minute run-in, it is purring like a kitten!
