40034_Nick
Hi All, I am looking at filling my depot (Currently being built) with equipment. 1980s diesel TMD (Scotland) I have 2 loco sheds, Fueling area and storage tank area. I would love some more ideas. I currently have oil barrels, folk lifts(in post), pallets. But looking to add more stuff. Any ideas and maybe links? Thanks in advance. Rivercider
I made a few trips to Scotland back in the day, and took a handful of photos. Most of the depot photos show the ground to be surprisingly quite tidy . In one or two photos there are some scrap rails lying around, and also some stacks of what appear to be new timber sleepers awaiting installation. One photo at Haymarket appears to show a large stack of (I think) brake blocks, cheers

Matt
Westhill Wagon Works could be worth a look too - lots of accessories including depot clutter that could inspire…
GDR
Think rubbish. Behind every shed/outbuilding is an area where the weeds thrive and crap gets slung. And if you're doing 80s then there'll be a shopping trolley somewhere, along with a few drifting carrier bags.

Fat Controller
45 gallon steel barrels on stands for some of the less popular oils. Either a 16t MDV ,or a 13t OHV with tidily stacked (new) brake blocks at one end, a heap of used ones at the other.

RMweb Gold AndrueC Posted January 7, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 7, 2022 Pile of rusty wheels? Skips full of scrap metal?

Wheelsets even in scrap condition are too valuable an asset to be left ‘in a pile of rusty wheels?’ Scrap metal goes in the same skip or wagon that worn brake blocks go in. There’s usually an out of the way corner by the store where unused, out of date, obsolete or general crap gets dumped. For the 1980s, you’ll need a well worn unofficial path to a nearby pub or club!
