Which version?

The original build, probably Gresley teaks or perhaps Pullman coaches.  For the rebuilt version in BR livery, probably Gresley, Thomson or BR Mk 1 coaches in Carmine and Cream livery, but possibly faux teak livery or maroon depending on your time period.  In essence it probably hauled pretty much the same stock as you would put behind an A3 / A4 or similar express passenger locomotive operating on the East Coast Mainline.

Thanks, was thinking as much, but good to have some confirmation, appreciated

W1 Loco (original build version) is on it's way in the post to me. What would be ideal coaches for it to pull? RTR or kit

It is worth remembering that the experimental nature of this loco in its original form saw it paired with a dynamometer car for much of its early life. Indeed more than any other single LNER loco, almost to the point where you could consider it to be a second tender! If you were lucky enough to obtain one of the Rapido cars (original number version) then run it with the W1.

In its original form (remember that it has a corridor tender) it was used once, 31st July up service and 1st August 1930 on the down service, work the "Flying Scotsman" KX to Edinburgh complete with headboard.   Based at Gateshead, it was mainly used on Leeds ´- Glasgow trains which it worked fron Newcastle to Edinburgh and back.  Frequently, it worked the "Queen of Scots" from Leeds to Newcastle - without headboard.  Thus the Hornby Pullman cars could also be used.

In its rebuilt version, it can also be used on the new "Coronation" stock!!  On 4th January 1939, A4 No. 4482 failed at Grantham and had to be replaced by 10000.  Unfortinately, this too failed at Durham and the train had to be hauled to Newvcastle by a NER G5 0-4-4T.  Althouhj it did haul a Silver Jubilee train punctually, though we dont (yet) have a Horby set of caoaches for this.
