virginhst539
Top work on 43277, I know your pain getting those daylight panels behind the cab masked. looking forward to seeing the underframe bits for the VIU units. let me know if you will be selling them as I could do with a set for the more unto date configuration. I have no N gauge stock or track so fitting it to a chassis/modding the chassis isn’t something I can do but I would expect a similar approach to others that I e done where I used the ends of a donor chassis with coupling and bogie mounts might work. The design itself seems to work, but having a lot of trial and error on supports and orientation. First attempt of UTU1 62384: Great to see you trying to re-scale to N Gauge. Once I saw your output it was the first question that entered my head. Hope they work out ok. Brian

LMSfan72
Back to the 153 VIU I filled the marker lights with black tack - seems a much easier thing to do than fill and paint 🙂 I bought some dual colour SMD LEDs for the marker/rear. Printed a new light box and light guide for the new led and glued the led to the back of the light guide. i will fit SMD LEDs into the box for the headlights too. Just need to work out if I need to print light guides for those. i plan on putting the resistors in the light box too and then probably run the wires direct to the decoder

virginhst539
coming along nicely, the box its self is a very odd mix of lights and cameras mounted either a central L beam. not got many reference pictures but I assume there is a diesel tank for the genny thats in it? or is it plumbed into the existing diesel tank. either way models coming along grand

Shaun66
Great work as always. Have got a EMT 153 to be converted myself, added to the long list that's never been started.
LMSfan72
I think that’s all the blanks and roof done. Now just the inspection equipment to work on!

LMSfan72
Does anyone know if 153376 still has the single camera on the "other" end?
virginhst539
This pic from December shows it removed. weirdly enough the camera set I have used on the one I'm doing never came with the door insert for this end, just the other with all the cameras mounted on the front. I think your onto a winner with these conversion parts with the various differences between each covered. The blue paint for 153376 is "RAL 5012 - light blue" I have not managed to convert that to a Vallejo equivalent as I have moved away from the acrylics for the railway stuff. hopefully that helps
LMSfan72
I am going to try Vallejo Game Color Electric Blue 72.023 - I tend to go by eye once I've got it close. It may need to be lightened, we'll see once it's on a primed surface!
LMSfan72
A couple of mock up shots (I know the camera is on the wrong end!) the equipment above the mini plough The underside equipment: I printed various versions, just the cameras or a full “door”.
LMSfan72
I think I need to play around with the bits around the plough. Bottom piece a bit bigger, upper piece a bit lower
LMSfan72
Change of approach on the plough equipment. Much happier with this:
LMSfan72
The underbody inspection lights are pre drilled to take wired SMD LEDs. So far I’ve got to 9 functions for the lighting….

I used Vallejo and Lifecolor paints (and a Halfords Ford Polar Grey aerosol I had laying about). Overall I’m pleased but I made a bit of a pig masking the metallic roof panels and I will probably have to weather them in. Well, I have now seen conclusive evidence that the rear roof is indeed grey (Jan 2024 at least). I'm now annoyed I went and changed it to black!!! I'll see if I can change it back... Denny
Looking really good! Is that a stock Vallejo colour for the parts on 311's roof or a mixup job?
The Angry Scotsman
Some really impressive modelling here. Between you, @virginhst539 and Roland, I think I will have to consider doing 43277 now!
