dpgibbons
The new Creality Falcon 2 laser engraver (reviewed here) seems to be an excellent combination of price, features and capability (22W, cutting up to 15mm wood in 1 pass). I'd be using it to cut 7mm sleeper base panels from Templot and for custom building structures. I have experience of laser cut designs using Inkscape, but up to now I've sent them to a commercial cutting service. Any thoughts please on whether this engraver is the one to go for? dpgibbons
The general consensus is that this is attractively priced with enough heft for modelling tasks, so I've bought one. Here's a video of one in action

What’s your verdict? James at Bexhill West has just posted his review of the 22W version : I like the idea of 22W and air assist, but not sure I can justify upgrading from my 5W Emblaser just yet. makeitminiature
I've just seen this. Thank you for sharing the link. My review wasn't biased by the fact they sent it to me as a freeby. It genuinely is excellent, and so much nicer to use than my CO2 setup. I'm being sent an Atomstack machine to review soon as well. It'll be nice to do a comparison between the two. I suspect both will prove to be excellent. A laser cutter is certainly a big investment, but very very useful. Best wishes, James

RMweb Gold DaveyH Posted February 15 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 15 I've had a 22w version for a few months and have cut sleepers for 7mm O-MF as designed in templot. The pictures show the quality I achieved. These were cut from 3mm plywood.
