PeteScR
Detailing a steam loco for the first time (taking a break from D&E), and was wondering who the go-to suppliers are for the best representations of loco vacuum brake pipes and loco steam pipes? I am detailing a Bachmann Fairburn and the supplied pipework looks a bit puny compared to prototype pics. Ta Pete

PeteScR
Thanks for the responses. I have been dealing with these suppliers for many years and aware of them. What I am looking for is opinions on who makes the most realistic steam and vacuum pipes for locos and coaches. Ta

RMweb Gold Right Away Posted April 8 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 8 The Bachmann Fairburn will also benefit visually with the addition of front footsteps; this one has home made footsteps and SR smokebox lamp irons. (Will get round to replacing those glued on plastic route discs for removable etched brass ones eventually).
stewartingram
A piece of thickish copper wire, say from twin & earth, can be stretched to make it stiff. That makes the hose, then wind some thin wire round it to simulate the ribbing; solder the 2 together, cut to length and bend. Vary the wire thicknesses as required.
