First of all - well done Dapol. A great model, and the sound / functionality is excellent for such a small locomotive.

I wanted to fit a stay alive, but before getting the model, I expected the smaller Next 18 Zimo MS590N18 decoder to be fitted. This would have needed the Staco 3A stay alive controller to be installed.

However, it happened to be the Zimo MS581N18, so all that had to be installed were the capacitors.

The kit used:

Tank removed, and the PC board lifted to reveal the motor. The two capacitors would be fitted either side of the motor (underneath the PC board).

First wire positive to negative between the capacitors.

The PC board is threaded through the decoder assembly and capacitors fitted under the board.

It helps to loosen off the screws as shown below, to get the top ends of the capacitors to fit.

A piece of Kapton tape added and decoder fitted.

Asembled and tested OK. It gave about 8 seconds with sound ON after lifting from the track.
