Hello

I have a Heljan class 47, I have replaced the  bulbs with LEDs in the headcode.

Has anyone fitted one of the Hornby H7000 sound decoder in one?

I thought I saw somewhere the Heljan locos are power hungry.

thanks in advance

Andy

Yes, Heljan diesels, at least, tend to take more power than the other manufacturers' products. I would be very wary of using any Hornby decoder in a Heljan 47, because the Hornby decoders are generally not very tolerant of overloads. I cannot say for sure that this will apply specifically to the HM7000 decoders, but my own experiences with other Hornby decoders indicate their fragility.

7K decoders are 1 amp so twice as capable of handling loads than their previous decoders. All clearly visible in the spec sheet in the famous manual.

Hi @Andy_Richards,

Did you have success with the HM7000 fitted?

I’ve just fitted one and sound working but no movement and a “motor overcurrent” warning.  App suggested reinstall of the profile which I did but not success.

I’ve read swapping out the old brass wheels for newer silver nickel ones can reduce the current drawn, I’d also be happy to swap out the old bulbs for leds if it would get this sorted.  Would be great to know if someone has HM7000 running on this model already before I commit to purchasing parts!
