Yes I got a few here…

Rails’s Sonia Limited Edition is beautiful printing imo..I was really impressed with how this looks… forgive me I took quite a few of this as I thought its stunning…

the desk fan for the driver in the cab stood as a nice touch.…

I like the bottom end quite a bit (finesse of the pipe printing on the bogies is quite subtle).

I also took the Cappagh one, as this turns up around my neck of the woods on Chessington Stone via Wimbledon..

and on the main organisers stand I saw the DCR one..

Tbh they are both really nice models and its hard to pick when it comes to detail. Each ones got some USPs unique to it (swappable buffer-beams on this one is well known).

I think the Cavalex USP on this model is every aspect is better than the competition.

I'm not sure if it has been answered but I wonder how the livery on 60062 is applied (Tampo, UV Print, Waterslide decal, etc) anyone know?

I don't know but would also be interested in an answer. One to ask them at a show or via alternative methods.

Heart and soul and then some has gone into these locos and it shows from what I saw (and heard on the sound file) at the weekend, and from speaking with Alex.

I think this deserves to be a very well supported offering and I will vote for this one with my wallet.

Me too! If their Class 56 is anything to go by it will be superb.

Thanks for the photos, I couldn't make it to GETS so that's a worthwhile update!

have to say i've ordered the other one in DC livery as Cavalex is sold out...but detail wise, stance, first impressions Cavalex every time. There is just something about it, i can't put my finger on it. The bogies are much better, as are the windscreens but its more than that. I have to say i would not swap my Hornby one for the other one if where not for the livery, i don't think its enough of a step up, its the least impressive of the others loco's to date

I've ordered the DCR 60's with sound from both Cavalex & Accurascale and just hoping the DCR Grey on them match perfectly.

In regards to detail and presence, yes I'm sort of leaning towards Cavalex as coming out on top but Accurascale have also taken note of some detail issues which I had raised in regards to the bogie pipework plus other stuff they mentioned and they are making corrections before production so their Class 60 may end up being the winner but this is all speculation based on some photo's and I'm never going to see them in the flesh until after purchase but rest assured both will be gorgeous models including their sound which they have proven already in their previous releases.

Now in regards to the Hornby Class 60, it had it's day and was a top effort by Hornby but honestly you cannot put it anywhere near the Accurascale 60 thus like me sell them off, invest and enjoy the 60's from the New Kids On The Block...wow that takes me back 😂

With a bit of actual modelling - (weathering and detailing), I think the Hornby 60 will still stand up to other models coming down the line..

Hats off to AS though with the 31 thread. It's developed into a bit of a get Britain Modelling thread..  explanations of renumbering, fitting seperate pieces and even files mentioned is all good stuff.

Problem was Hornby at times hashed the liverys. Less said about those awful plastic cab door handrails the better. Otherwise it was a good model, weathered nicely too thanks to the slab sided nature of the prototype. Pity though they never painted the internal gubbins around the engine area, always had to paint that as Hornby used dark gray plastic on it all.

I don’t think DCR liveries will match. I looked at both closely at GETS (not side by side obviously) but one is a slightly more glossy finish than the other, you could tell by the light reflections.

Neither are bad but both imo maybe different. Same for DB red too.

Railfreight 3 tone though is a hard one to call, both look really good and similar finish.
Its this I’m waiting on, as in real life when new they were all finish… I remember the wall

of 3T grey around the back of Loughborough works of partly finished locos.

That's a shame, was hoping both 60's would match or be close enough for it not to be obvious and I know people will argue that weathering will sort them out but I don't weather my loco's.

Would you be at liberty to say which one was more glossier than the other?

I will be doing the switch from Hornby, I've never found a coupling solution that works and doesn't derail stock and the tab-connection for the lights has always been frustrating for me - a shame as it looks the part still and the mechanism is great.

Split on which manufacturer to go with, and equally don't want to wait too long in case things sell out - decisions!

The class 60 threads keep getting shut down as some posts, presumably, are considered advertising.

I have preordered a couple of Cavalex 60s as, in my view, they are better than those to be produced by Accurascale.

I used to work for a well known model shop but no longer have a connection with them or Cavalex.

I,  therefore, assume that it’s OK for me to wax lyrically about how much better the Cavalex model is.

As a matter of interest and with no axe to grind as I'm far away from the Class 60 era (except in past work jobs, quite a comfy cab I thought) have you handled examples from both manufacturers and been able to directly compare and assess their build quality, accuracy, and running qualities in order to reach an objective decision?  Just wondering.

To be honest if I was an OO purchasing modeller I would be quite concerned about Cavalex.

All I see are locked threads and people firing missiles that lead to further thread locks.

It's not a good look guys regardless of the quality of the models.

I really don't know what is going on, but it needs to stop and some sort of formal normality resumed and then people can decide for themselves which models they wish to purchase.
