Hi, I am pondering about getting one of these mini table saws.

So I would be interested in peoples view on these.

Are they worth getting?  Do you actually use them? If you do what they good at?

And any advice on which make, good or bad would be welcome.

Thanks

Best Wishes

David

I've had one of the Proxxon ones for many years. It's one of those tools that might not see any use for long periods but then a job comes along and it's exactly the right tool for it. I've used it for all sorts of materials including cork, thin ply, plasticard and Perspex.

I had one, (technically I've still got it,,,as an ornament), the first motor lasted about 3 months, it went back to the store and was repaired, the second motor lasted about 2 months, then I gave up on it. I wasn't cutting 6 x 4's with it, but I don't think it likes any degree of prolonged use, probably as you say, an occasional machine.

It's a shame there isn't an aftermarket replacement motor with a bit of grunt as the construction and quality can't be faulted.

I’m considering one of these 12v tracksaws. Cost competitive over a Proxxon FET but I suspect not as useful if you are ripping small section timber for example. But I think it would have wider application in the workshop, for me anyhow. We’ll see what happens on Black Friday, maybe.

Lots of hints and tips about using tracksaws on that YouTube channel if this may be of interest.
