Windjabbers
Hi, I am pondering about getting one of these mini table saws. So I would be interested in peoples view on these. Are they worth getting? Do you actually use them? If you do what they good at? And any advice on which make, good or bad would be welcome. Thanks Best Wishes David
RMweb Premium PeterStiles Posted October 31 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 31 Only advice I can give is: Before using, count your fingers, After using, count your fingers. If the numbers do not tally, seek expert advice. 2
RMweb Gold BluenGreyAnorak Posted October 31 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 31 I've had one of the Proxxon ones for many years. It's one of those tools that might not see any use for long periods but then a job comes along and it's exactly the right tool for it. I've used it for all sorts of materials including cork, thin ply, plasticard and Perspex. 1

I had one, (technically I've still got it,,,as an ornament), the first motor lasted about 3 months, it went back to the store and was repaired, the second motor lasted about 2 months, then I gave up on it. I wasn't cutting 6 x 4's with it, but I don't think it likes any degree of prolonged use, probably as you say, an occasional machine. It's a shame there isn't an aftermarket replacement motor with a bit of grunt as the construction and quality can't be faulted. Mike.
idd15
I’m considering one of these 12v tracksaws. Cost competitive over a Proxxon FET but I suspect not as useful if you are ripping small section timber for example. But I think it would have wider application in the workshop, for me anyhow. We’ll see what happens on Black Friday, maybe. Lots of hints and tips about using tracksaws on that YouTube channel if this may be of interest. hth idd
Gordon A
My Proxon has lasted a number of years in our group club room available to all to use. Max thickness of cut 6mm. The only thing I have changed is the saw blades. Gordon A
RMweb Gold 96701 Posted November 2 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 2 I inherited a Proxxon saw, and with a diamond cutter in it has no trouble cutting copperclad sheet into sleeper sized strips.
