RMweb Gold Popular Post BMacdermott Posted December 10, 2024 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted December 10, 2024 (edited) The 00 Wishlist Poll 2024 – ‘live’ from 11 to 31 December Hello everyone We last ran The 00 Wishlist Poll back in late 2022. Since then, more than 50 items have been announced, mostly from ‘the upper half’ of The Poll content: 10 Top 50 5 of which were ‘most wanted’ in their category 20 High Polling 4 of which were ‘most wanted’ in their category 18 Middle Polling 8 which were above the halfway mark 8 Low Polling 5 of which were post-1964 Freight, which traditionally polls fewer votes The 00 Wishlist Poll 2024 runs from Wednesday 11 December to midnight on Tuesday 31 December. Many replacements for the announced/deleted items are your suggestions from 2022. Although The Poll is kindly hosted by RMweb, it is not connected with it and has no influence on it. Andy York has once again professionally arranged the ‘computerised elements’ for us in his own time. The results will appear on RMweb asap in January – look for the thread title: Results – The 00 Wishlist Poll 2024. For those who wish to ‘plan their voting’, you will find attached a PDF of The Contents of The Poll. Remember…it is the contents only for planning purposes only and you cannot vote from it. Also attached is The Poll A4 Poster hoping that many of you will be able to send it to your local shop, club, society or modelling friends – they may just vote for what you are voting for! Please note that this Poll is 00 only. We have explained and justified many times as to why we no longer run N, Industrial or Underground categories and neither will we be running any other, such as 0, P4 etc etc. We will always stick to ‘core content’ and will not be adding categories along the lines of 'Which current models would you like to see upgraded?', 'How many of any model you would wish to buy?’ and ‘What level of detail should a model aspire to?’ Some voters have expressed concerns about our cut-off dates, but we have to have some method of restricting what we list otherwise The Poll becomes dreadfully unwieldy! The cut-off date precludes us making ‘quality judgements’ about models that might ‘not have cut the mustard’ – if a model was made prior to 31 December 2007 it goes in; if it was made from 1 January 2008, it stays out (at least until we review the cut-off date for The 2026 Poll). OK…enjoy browsing and voting! We are happy to answer queries or provide unbiased advice here, via PM to me (Brian Macdermott), or email The Poll Team: thepollteam@gmail.com All the best to everyone for Christmas and 2025! The N5 was listed but as: MSLR Parker N4/N5 0-6-2T (69225-69247, 69250-69370) Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
RMweb Gold MikeParkin65 Posted December 11, 2024 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 11, 2024 Completed - keeping in mind the maxim 'would I really buy this' provided the focus. Its like 'wish listing' but more fun :) 2 3 1
NXEA!
All done. I couldn’t see an option to vote for a 109 Wickhams unit? Perhaps I missed it. Also, would be good to see the Thompson BZ as an NPCCS option for next year. Either way, big thank you for running the poll again, it’s much appreciated!
RMweb Gold JohnR Posted December 11, 2024 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 11, 2024 I didnt see an option for a Class 107 DMU for use on Scottish lines (unless I missed it). I know one was produced a few years ago by Bachmann for Harburn Hobbies (which maybe why it was thought not necesary), but that model was just a renumbering of a 108, and not completely accurate as a result (ok, not very accurate at all!) 1 2
RMweb Gold BMacdermott Posted December 11, 2024 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted December 11, 2024 Hello NXEA! The Class 109 was deleted due to Low Polling over many years, and we only have 'limited space'. You are welcome to suggest it for inclusion in 2026, but we only accept suggestions made in reasonable accordance with our notes within the Q&A (which you can see on the PDF on the first post of this thread). The Thompson BZ is listed under Category 13: Coaches, Passenger Brake Vans & TPO: LNER (exc Scottish Companies) Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team) 2

RMweb Premium Downer Posted December 11, 2024 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 11, 2024 Just wondering what happened to the Class 04 diesel shunter (the only diesel I still want). I know Rapido's one was cancelled - have I missed a subsequent announcement?
RMweb Premium Gwiwer Posted December 11, 2024 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 11, 2024 Added some ticks to the form. Significantly BR-SR/WR based as my interests lie there but did I miss the LMS-style offset-gangway sleepers or are they just not listed?
RMweb Premium Legend Posted December 11, 2024 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 11, 2024 Hi Brian . Just voted . When going through the Scottish section , where most of my interest is I noted there was no Caledonian 4-6-0 , specifically I was looking for MacIntosh 4-6-0 Cardean , surely an archetypal Caledonian locomotive , and one which I thought may stand a chance of actually being produced . Was it not popular enough to make the cut - and if not , how will it ever get in ? 1

It looks like we may have deleted due the Rapido announcement but failed to re-instate it after cancellation. Leave it with me (there is no need to go through the 'suggestion process'). As you will see, the 'Scottish' category was at 'maximum load' of 45 items this year, so it's a matter of 'shoe-horning' things in where we can. You are welcome to suggest it for 2026 but please follow the process described in the Q&A. Many thanks Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)

RMweb Gold BMacdermott Posted December 11, 2024 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted December 11, 2024 Thanks Andy and Bucoops Indeed, there are times when matters are 'frustrating' but I take the view that 'keeping an open mind' is vital. We have found that we have inadvertently missed a couple of good items and there are one or two really good suggestions coming through. Pint of Adnams
Thanks to Brian and the Poll Team once again. Just for the record would like to note the absence of a GER wagon type, due to the very late announcement of two variants by Rapido and as explained below. It does appear that Diag.55/73 7-plank (as one listing) might have been the better alternative.
RMweb Gold The Johnster Posted December 11, 2024 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 11, 2024 The wishlist poll is what it is, and therefore paradoxically not the best place for wishlisting of items not included. I'm pleased with this year's, which includes some items I've been quietly but persistently lobbying for for some time. As for other items I want (and these are getting fewer over time as the general RTR biodiversiyt increases), some may appear in future polls and even in reality; in the meantime, my thanks to Brian and the boys and hopes that the items I want will get themselves into production. We live in an age of wonders, and many recent RTR items are stuff I never thought I'd see produced in a million years, never mind to the excellent standard that seems to be the default deze daze. This is clearly unsustainable in the long term for steam-era stuff, as there will come a point when new models will have to be of items so obscure that measuring up will be difficult and demand tiny. I would not expect to see a twin-set gangwayed TVR auto train as used on the Porthcawl branch 1953-7 in production any time soon, for example, and do not feel it is reasonable to suggest one in this topic. I'd buy one like a shot, though... 3

Which means that the theoretical purchase funding had they been produced can be reassigned to something else on the wish-list.
