RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted November 2, 2009 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 2, 2009 My R4378 arrived a couple of days ago, in good, new condition. Only when I started fitting Kadee #18s did I notice that the guard's brake on BTK 3793 has neither "Guard" nor "Luggage" printing on the doors, either side. Otherwise it appears identical to the BTK 4051 I have on hand - except for the high windows, of course. Anyone else bought this set and found the same? Amusingly, the box shows a photo of the vehicle - complete with full lettering! Doh!

So! I have the ??1m on e-bay "version for serious collectors only!" Sigh. I believe I'm supposed to remonstrate with a Mr Kohler about such things. I'll have to dig into the Hornby site. These things didn't happen with the tinplate 0-4-0s my parents bought me nearly 60 years ago! Wot is the world coming to?

You could leave it to go with your Hornby first edition 1st class with hinges on both sides of the door (surely you have one of these?), but lettering it 'Guard' yourself will be quicker than returning the thing and might even be less aggravating. It will then be truly unique too! I'll see if I have any HMRS SR transfers spare (possibly not, mine are pretty ancient).
