chertsey chopper
I know six A4's made it into preservation, only four are in this country, three of which are steaming at present to my knowledge. Are there any bits of others that were broken up to be used as spares, or any left as on-going projects awaiting further restoration work? I've often wondered... RMweb Gold LH&JC Posted November 11, 2009 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 11, 2009 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley was overhauled at Crewe after she was preserved, and as part of that another A4 (60026 Miles Beevor?) was stripped for some parts and was then scrapped. Chameleon
I believe the Tallylin locos have A4 chime whistles on them? Also isn't the chime on Tornado an original A4 one as well?
jwealleans
Much of the motion of 4498 is stamped 60026.
Ed-farms
Jeremy Hoskins owns a spare A4 boiler previously on Flying Scotsman, there is a few whistles and nameplates out there but that is probably it.
MerseyMan
I believe No.60007 runs under No.60026 main driving wheels as they where in much better condition than 60007s own set and were swapped during the overhaul at Crewe in 66.
