Well, following the help yesterday in fathoming out what was what crankpin wise I got the chassis to roll freely enough by close of play.

Today I connected up the wiring and clipped the motor into place, checked the back to back and test ran it through the points on the layout.

Several hours of tweaking quartering, tweaking back to back, testing, tweaking, testing, tweaking some more... and so on, and I think it's running more or less as well as the standard product out the box.

The front and back axles seem to wobble about in their oversized axle slots which isn't exactly precision engineering, and I've not been entirely successful in getting wheels squarely onto the axles. But I think they're about as true as I'm going to get them.

So it looks (almost) like this today:

I will consider whether I want to pull it all apart to try and better square up the axles on the wheels, but without a press or similar I don't immediately see how this would be achieved.

Anyhow, I've had enough for this weekend and will quit while I think I'm winning! ^_^
