RSS Fetcher
I came across a box of photos from way back when and was suprised to find so many locos that have often appeared on RMweb's wish list threads. These pictures have been used to avoid copyright issues. So here's a slightly off-beat wish list illustrated to focus minds on the model we have often wished for....or have yet to wish for..... I think top of the list goes to BR Standard Class 8 'Duke of Gloucester', one from Hornby for 2010 pehaps....? The LNER Loco wish list has come up with several tank locomotives including the Thompson L1 2-6-4T. The model is representative of the earliest batch without the split footplate. Another large LNER Tank, built by the LNER as well as the GCR, is the Clas A5 4-6-2T. A true LNER all-rounder being based on the GCR, NER, H&B, GNR and GER., they could be found around Bradford, Wakefield and Copley Hill, Neasden, Immingham, Woodford, Hichin, Kings Cross, Rickmansworth and Aylesbury on Metropolitan lines, Colwick, Hexham, Middlesborough, Darlington-Saltburn, Lincoln, Grantham, Boston, Nottingham- Derby, Hull for Hornsea-Withernsea services, Skegness-Firsby & Horncastle setrvices, Norwich, Lowestoft, Cromer, Thetford, and heavy expresses from Midlands to Yarmouth and Lowestoft. Gorton for working Hull-Liverpool, Harwich-Manchester between Manchester Central and Guide Bridge. also worked other local service out of Manchester. A wish list favourite is the Atlantic type. I only have a picture of the small boiler GNR type. A re-tooled MR/LMS Compound has been wished for often. A beautifuly balanced loco that always looks a treat in model form. Another 4-4-0 wish list favourite is the GER 'Claud' D16. However produces this as a model could run it for several years with different configurations of boiler and footplate (original decorative and rebuilt Gresley). There has long been requests for indiginous locomotive models for Scotland, which up to now has had to make do with locos from over the border like LMS 2P's and 4F's. The model illustrated represents the smaller Caley 'Dunalastair III', but I suspect modellers would prefer the final Pickersgill 113 Class that lasted into BR days. To be continued....
