Dudley Dodger
I want to elongate my farish 150 to three coach, and they're base on the mk 3 bodyshell. However, nobody, not even electra graphics, can supply a regional mk 3, but there are regional mark ones availible from farish. Can you really tell the difference by much, or will it look out of place in the trainset?
giz
Although a 150 is Mk3 based there is a big difference between them and loco hauled or HST Mk3s, 3m in length for one thing and the doors are totally different. A Mk1 is a different kettle of fish entirely and would be totally out of place. Actually most class 150 centre cars are additional driving coaches from split sets, the only genuine centre cars without driving cabs were built for the two prototype sets. RMweb Gold Dagworth Posted December 8, 2009 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 8, 2009 Mark 3 coaches are 75 foot long, Mark 1s are about 10 foot less than that. Mark 1s have a curve across the whole depth of the body side while mark 3s have a flat side section where the windows are, and a tumblehome below. Mark 3s have ribs longways along the roof, mark 1s don't. Just a few immediate differences for starters. Edit: As Giz says, mark 1 stock has single slam doors that are flush with the bodyside, sprinter cars have pairs of sliding doors set back into the body side. Here's a pic of a mark1 in regional railways livery http://www.ehattons.com/images/products/39156_1.JPG It's your trainset though... Andi

Save your money a bit longer and buy another set - two 2-cars would look a lot better than one 3-car with a fictional trailer in between!
Dudley Dodger
possibly a 150/2 dummy in the middle? I'm not on a very big budget. What do the central three coachers use? I know that the fives put a /2 in there. Come to think of it, will a dummy 153 work? Or are they different?

Dudley Dodger
Ne'er thought of that. how much'll a power car go for? if it's seventy for the set, around fourty, or is that a bit much?

Dudley Dodger
Ok, thanks. Actually, there's a point. Is it particularly noticeable in n gauge? then again, it is around a centimetre or so difference. Is the 57 foot mark one the gangway brakes, and the sixty four passenger, or is it more complicated than that?

Well yes, that pic is a 4mm model but it wouldn't look any different in 2mm, it would still look very out of place in a class 150. A
