GWR-Fanatic
I'm please to say that East Grinstead was a great success for Fiddlers End, alot of visitors asking questions and giving some very welcomed comments, enjoyed myself immensly. Have had interest in the layout for possible future exhibition, but until confirmed, I won't say more than that.
GWR-Fanatic
Hey there! "Long time no see" as the adage goes, Any how, I'm afraid at the moment there is not too much to say in regards to the layout itself per se, as I'm currently working on a small OO gauge project with a few friends at my local Model Railway Club (Tonbridge) Any how, I am considering on starting a blog page related to the Layout in order to be able to give more in-depth background and better updates should they arise. I may even look into building a website for the layout. I must admit, not a lot has been done upon the layout (apart from the usual chore of cleaning) in a cosmetic way, it's traversed as far as it can go on that frontage, at least until something catches my eye to act as an addition. At the moment the layout is in storage, and in order to test new stock and locomotives I'm looking into constructing a small test track which will enable me to test without having to use the layout constantly. So for now, updates in regards to Fiddlers End may be few and far between, of course if you have any comments, queries, or other miscellaneous observations, please feel welcome to post them, and I will make every effort to respond. So for the moment I shall leave it at this point, and thank you for your interest in the layout. Cheers and regards.
GWR-Fanatic
I've just realise I've been meaning to post this up for a while now: Cambrian Map - Fiddlers End Map 6 (Emblem and Notes by GWR_Fanatic, on Flickr A recreated Google Earth view, the green route is demonstrating the fictional route to Fiddlers End were it to have actually existed, the lines marked in purple are actually real Cambrian Railways lines long closed and lifted, the Black lines are tracks which are still in situ. GWR-Fanatic
Please note that due to inactivity of the layout, this is possibly the last post that I will be making for a while in relation to Fiddlers End. The layout as a whole reaches it's fifth year since work begun on the design and construction, and it well into it's second year of being exhibition standard. The layout however has seen at late a level of inactivity, and is not scheduled to make any further public appearances on the exhibition circuit for the foreseeable future. It has been placed safely into storage and apart from the occasional cleaning and maintenance, it is doubtful there will be any future updates. However I still welcome all comments and queries, so do please feel free to post them on this topic. If I don't respond immediately, I will make every effort to do so when it is most opportune to do so, For the time being, the layout and this topic are in hiatus until further notice. Thank you for your continuing interest and support in the layout. Cheers. GWR-Fanatic.
GWR-Fanatic
2014 UPDATE First of all, a very belated Happy New Year to all on RM Web. I hope your season of goodwill was bountiful and relaxing. Well, it's now time for the latest news, and to be honest, there is none, but you know what they say, "No News is Good News". The layout is still safely stored away, though I probably will carry out a spot of maintenance at some point to make sure every thing is still functioning correctly (I haven't had it running for a while I have to admit). The layout is not making any appearances on the Exhibition circuit this year, so plenty of time to maintain, clean and test run all my stock as well. One more point of interest is that I've finally gotten around to enlarging a plan originally drawn by Cyril Freezer for a OO Gauge layout, the plan I have is to reduce it down to N gauge so that I can construct my next layout, and then make adaptations so that there will be some alterations to the original design for my chosen scale. Well, that's all for now, should I have any more news, I will post it up, but for now, it's simply fare thee well. Oh and if any one's tried to view the posted video of Fiddler's End, I've forgotten to mention in previous posts, that I closed my YouTube channel, it wasn't going as well as I Cheers! GWR-Fanatic
SORT OF UPDATE (to a degree) I've made a list of locomotives to add to the collection for the layout, some are actually available or to be released, others are merely down to wishful thinking. I would post the list on here, but it would be one very long list. suffice to say, it includes a large amount of standard gauge GWR, and all Cambrian Railway locomotive designs. GWR-Fanatic
Fiddlers End: February 2015 Update... Actually to be brutally honest with you, there's nothing to report, so indeed why would I be posting. Well... I'd like to report that though the layout out has remained inactive on the exhibition circuit since 2013, it has been maintained periodically with cleaning and running of the stock at home. A couple of additional locomotives have joined the "Fleet" too, I finally managed to get a 28XX, and another Hall Class locomotive for the GWR stock. I also have a Southern Q1 and Southern BoB Class "Spitfire" though this last one I've actually had from before the layout had been fully advanced to the satisfactory level it is currently appearing as, I've never really given it a proper running in before. So though there really isn't much to report, I like to post these little updates to show the development of the layout and the rolling stock that appears upon it. Cheers. GWR-Fanatic
UPDATE: JULY 2015... FIDDLERS END TO BE EXHIBITED... Well... I honestly believed that this thread would no longer be active apart from the one post back in February. However I have some most excellent news, that Fiddler End will be back on display next week (25th July) at the Pevensey Bay MRC's annual exhibtion, I only recently recieved confirmation, but as I said in my response I will be most delighted to attend with the layout and I look forward to being able to demonstrate a "Reduced Space" layout at an exhibition once again. So if you happen to find yourself at Pevensey Bay, do pop along and say hello.
