Isambard Kingdom Brunel
Would I be right in assuming that the Alex Jackson Couplings fitted to a Steam Loco would be a non operating hook? I have looked at the AJ Couplings spec on line and in Scalefour Digest and saw no mention of that fitted to a loco, it was probably there plain as day, but, I didn't see it. RMweb Gold Fen End Pit Posted December 14, 2009 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 14, 2009 Yes, the convention is for the locomotives have a simple hook with no dropper. Usually it would be nearly impossible to arrange the degree of movement required to make it operate anyway. There are of course some people who have the mechanical genius to build DCC operated AJ's but for the rest of us a straight-forward hook is quite good enough. David Barham See: http://nigelcliffe.blogspot.com/2009/11/couplings-on-0-6-0t.html meaning it uncouples anywhere, I need to order in some magnets when I have time to try it. RMweb Gold Buhar Posted February 13, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 13, 2010 I bought that book on Alex Jackson couplings - every time I passed near a magnet I dropped it!
