RSS Fetcher
73118 has progressed well its hard to beleive that the year will be over now in just over half a month! I think 2009 has been a good year for models for me, the introduction of some models has been quite pleasing! my old workbench thread is here: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=24431&p=497015&hilit=+158757#p497015 to show that im not a three model wonder its hard to beleive my detailing work wasnt as good as it is now; compare the pictures of 73107, to 73118 and you may see what I mean! Back to the 73, the majority of the fiddly work has been done, the bulk of the Scharfenburg couplings has been done, with Hornby class 60 buffers added, which in my view for any type of loco that has these type of buffers, the Hornby items are a must simply being much finer than the Shawplan equivalent ( sorry Brian! ), Hurst models' superb EPs tunnel logos have nicely finnished off the models appearance as Lima never included these on the model! the trickiest part was adding the smallest of the logos which only needed a light misting of glue and thankfully theyve stayed on so far ... the glazing for Limas model I think is OK, but I think South easternfinecasts' Flush glazing is an improvement, as well as the Railmatch Lithoplan headcodes ( but I think they look too big?! ). still to do are the awful looknig horns! but im not sure who else does these as apart from Markits whic hI think look a bit too fine for me, and possibly tackling the roof fan grill as well, then theres the modifyed jumpers which I dont seem to be having much luck finding replacments for ... Also im currently working on a couple of Dapol MCA wagons, by replacing the chunky handwheels with Hurst models items, which IMHO do look much better than the Dapol effort. There is missing wiring on the underside of the wagon but im not sure what is/isnt misiing at the moment so Hopefully some research may be fruitious?? Ill post up pictures hopefully soon of the wagons in progress Thats all for now NL View the full article
