Deltic Weekend ELR

two tone green

Recommended Posts

It starts on the Friday 21st September with a night shoot for the photographers and then Saturday Sunday 22nd / 23rd September its Deltic hauled services with five of them in service.

I am going as I missed the last event like this and had to make it this time to feel the noise of the Napiers at play.

I missed Telford, I am not going to miss this.

Any one else going?

My drive North starts tomorrow am. Will now be there for the photo shoot. Glad about that... I was one of those that suggested it last year but understood why it didn't happen. Will be riding the rails on Saturday and enjoying the experience. Sunday will be lineside - depending on the weather. It should be a good event . Stop by and say hi if you see me. Purple sweat shirt, wielding a DSLR and a limp that's hard to miss... that's me.

Hi All,

Here is my day out at the Deltic Gathering held at the East Lancs Railway.

Superb event, well worth the mad drive up the M6.

Shame I missed you Jon but on a day like it was my attention was 100% Deltic based.

Well, 98 % as my wife was with me and I had to make sure her seat grabbing duties did not go unthanked. She would rush off to get seats next to the loco whilst I took photos outside. She was rewarded with a bit of freshly cooked haddock from the fish and chip shop just up the road from Ramsbottom station. Very nice fish. The wife is alright as well.

mow, I was talking to the guys on the Loveless stand about the colour scheme and how the two tone scheme makes the loco look smaller due to the lower band. The mono, slab sided blue version makes it seem bigger, more impressive but like you the two tone green small yellow panel version is my favorite.

I thought there would have been more people there which in some ways is good for us but not so good for the organisers. With it being the second time this has been held, perhaps it did not quite have the same pull, impact as the last time.

Could be a while then before it happens again.

Ah ha... was that you then? Bagging the front bay on the blue grey set behind 22 at Heywood? Brian Rob and I were on the other side although we'd bagged the two groups until then - the plan was that this was the set for the Beer-ex... so that worked well. If that was you, your wife was very pleasant ... i explained we'd been bagging the seats but it was time I gave that one up ;-) It was a fun .... and yes, I can appreciate the 100% attention demand; mine was probably likewise. Glad you had a good day!
