I am a member of the Class 47 Preservation Project which now owns the loco (as 47771) and I am compiling a bit of a "47771 This is Your Life" so any info on what the loco has done etc is always welcome. eastwestdivide
As a trainspotter in Kent, 47s were exotic. Two in a day was exceptional. Here's some from the mid-80s from the south. One regular was the Dover-Willesden freight, usually ferry wagons, but here imported cars, at Rochester: Another regular was the Westbury-Hothfield (near Ashford) aggregates. The return empties here at Maidstone East: They spent a while on the Westbury-Allington run, so theoretically, you could have seen one at each Maidstone station some days. And just N of the Thames, more aggregates, the "Tilbury Roadstone" PGAs at Stratford. Can't remember where they ran to: Edited October 10, 2013 by eastwestdivide
