Steve Taylor
Has anyone come across a standard key to symbols for signalling diagrams? I'm trying to remember if there is anything for limit of shunt and what SPT's and yellow discs are represented bym Cheers Steve

flyingsignalman
On uncoloured diagrams, yellow discs are denoted by the letter Y by the disc(s) concerned. (G)WR discs fitted with a white light have a W next to them (not to be confused with the W under a subsidiary signal that denotes "warning acceptance"). Boris
I've also seen SPTs represented as a box with white and black diagonal stripes (top right to bottom left) for a phone giving one way communication, and a black cross on a white background as an SPT giving two way communication. RMweb Premium phil-b259 Posted January 14, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 14, 2010 I've also seen SPTs represented as a box with white and black diagonal stripes (top right to bottom left) for a phone giving one way communication, and a black cross on a white background as an SPT giving two way communication. Under current regs, a signal post telephone i.e. a direct line to the signalman has diagonal white and black stripes. Other phones not related to a signal such as tunnel phones have the black cross. All phones allow full two way communication between signalman and user, with the only restriction being that in certain limited clearence locations, the signalman cannot initate the call to the phone, while the user can call the signalman. This is indicated by a solid yellow circle superimposed onto the aforementioned labels.
