Charlie B
Hi Guys, I'm a little new to this after a 32 year gap for the navy. I've bought a Bachmann Dynmis but the Loco lights all seem too bright. A class 47 (or Brush 4 as I new them in and out of Swindon) never had a headcode that bright. I can't seem to find the CV to dim them if at all you can. Any advice is welcomed. Regards Charlie

Charlie B
what decoder do you have in the 47? Andi Well the 47 is now awaiting a sound system from South West Digital, so I can take that one no further at present. With my Bachmann Class 37 all 3 lights illuminate on both ends which ever direction it runs! Do I need to dismantle it, find out which decoder is fitted, and then alter the CV? Mod2
Hi Charlie and welcome. I've moved your topic into DCC Questions, where you should get a more targeted response. Cheers.
SouthernGreen
If the decoder is the Bachmann 3-function (their standard fitting on non-sound now I believe), then adjusting CV63 will reduce the light output - it has a range of 1-7 the lower the value the less output Default is 7 so I guess try 3 and see how it seems, then adjust up or down to suit. I fitted one of these to the Heljan Kestrel which HAS to have the power reduced and ended up with CV69 set to 1 to get it acceptably low. You don't necessarily need to open up the loco to find out which chip is installed, if you read the setting of CV8 it gives the manufacturer ID which in the case of the Bachmann 3-function will be 151 (as it's the ESU LokPilot basic in disguise)
