RMweb Gold DaveF Posted November 15, 2013 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted November 15, 2013 (edited) A bumper set tonight, all still at York with the Elizabethan Railtour 22nd October 1966. RMweb Gold DaveF Posted November 17, 2013 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted November 17, 2013 (edited) This evening's photos are all at Skipton loco shed. RMweb Gold DaveF Posted November 18, 2013 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted November 18, 2013 (edited) Having spent part of today at the RVI in Newcastle finding out what is wrong with one eye I now know it may get better, or stay the same, or just perhaps get worse and there is no apparent reason for the problem as I don't have the normal risk factors. I have to go back in two months to see if anything has changed. To change the subject. Diesels and electrics this evening on the ECML and WCML. RMweb Premium Clive Mortimore Posted November 18, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 18, 2013 Can't be doing with this "Modern Image" stuff But cor blimey the train behind the Type 3 looks interesting, I thought was only modellers who mixed that many types of wagon. As for the Brush 4 that’s more like it all those Vanwides in the same train, must be something special. As for the AL6 what a mixture of stock, just lovely. There is no traces of lining on the GUV or the Thompson 6 wheeler, are they blue because if not it was rare for both types to in plain maroon? The SR BY could well be green or blue, or the more than likely the normal dirt "livery" found on SR parcels stock. What I really like about this photo is how David has framed the train within an overlap of the OLE. It is not often you see a photo showing all the mast of an overlap as David has captured on film. The EMU (AM10) is nicely framed by the two mast with reduced system height arms. This is so the catenary wire is low enough to go under the bridge David was standing on when he took the photo. hmrspaul
The van train in 66 is interesting, All Vanwides, with the possible exception of the final two vans (before the brake van) as they look like they have framed sides - as the Izal and Glass Palvans. I wonder if this is heading to/from the Izal factory near Sheffield, or Rowntrees chocolate at York? Paul

kevingsydney
Tonight we have one more from Dunford Bridge and some from Derby. Kevin Sydney Kevin, The Derby photos were all taken from the extreme northern end of the platforms. I didn't go there very often and I don't remember ever leaving the station when I had a camera with me. There are some more of my and Dad's photos of Derby in one of my flickr sets, they are on the sets page at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/davidwf2009/sets/?&page=2 You should find the Derby set on the fourth row down. jonny777
7E16 was the 1315 Tees Yard to Whitemoor. Anything and everything could appear on these trains (and regularly did), as long as they were destined for East Anglia or East London. I used to see them further south over the GN&GE. I think people tend to forget how varied the freight stock was until the dramatic rationalisation of the early 70s. I cannot find 4G18, if indeed that is the headcode, as the third blind on the Brush 4 looks damaged, but the majority of G headcodes on that route were destined for Tyne Yard. That is why I suggested Rowntrees. They appear to have been considered a top class customer, they got masses of Palvans when they were new, http://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/brpalvan/e3a96538e Then they had Vanwides http://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/brvanwide/ed6ad0ed In my early spotting days I can remember the return to branding on the removable labels they had on the side. And it is well known a large fleet of air braked vans were allocated to them. http://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/brvda/e21ead03b Paul Bartlett

RMweb Gold DaveF Posted November 20, 2013 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted November 20, 2013 It's nice to be indoors this evening - heavy rain (with some sleet) and thunder and the wind's getting stronger. RMweb Gold DaveF Posted November 22, 2013 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted November 22, 2013 (edited) I've just got back from a very pleasant afternoon at a local exhibition in a nearby church hall, being held today and tomorrow, not Sunday. Just about 13 layouts and a couple of trade stands - so how did I manage to buy 2 locos, some rolling stock and various bits and pieces? A few more photos for this evening, the first three were taken from the train on a journey from Harrogate to Loughborough. I think the location of the first two is correct, unless anyone knows different.
