I bought one of TB Models 009 3D printed cheap and easy sidetank Locos.  http://www.shapeways.com/shops/tebee?sort=newest&section=009+cheap+and+easy&s=0

Its the first time I have worked with something 3D printed and after reading some info about it I gave the body a coat of Halfords plastic filler primer.

I will rubdown it down next and then give it another coat of primer etc

I have given the body another file and rubdown today and the third coat of filler primer.  I am quite pleased with how it looks now and I don't think i'll add anymore primer.

Time to go for some colour, have to decide which?!

I have given the loco another rub down and its first coat of paint. Not wanting to buy any new paint I had a look at what I had and the choice was black, Rover Russet Brown or Rover Clove Brown.

I opted for the Clove brown!

I can't believe how time has gone this year.

Progress has been slow but I have been doing a bit lately.

I acquired some dry print lining from our local model shop. They are very old being priced in old money.

It wasn't until after I applied it which was bit of a struggle that I read the instructions and they said apply them on a matt surface!

I think I shall apply another layer once I have varnished the loco

Some nice potential there.... the build lines on the 3D Print were a little too coarse really but with perseverence you've gotten it to come up pretty well. Looks a lot better with paint, finish and trim - the little details like whistle and window rims help a lot.

What's the mechanism underneath?

Sorry, just found your posting.

The mechanism used is one of the N gauge Kato tram chassis

I've been doing a little bit more to the loco.

I have given the lining another covering which has made it look more solid.

I have also given it a bit of a weathering.

A basic backhead has been fixed in and I've started painting the cab inside.

It still requires a few more details but is getting there.
