wensleydaledownunder
Hi, I received my n gauge Blue Pullman before Christmas and then the decoders arrived this week. When I started running it on my layout, one of the coaches started skipping on my crossover. I checked the wheel back-to-back measurement with my callipers and came up with 7.3mm for most axles, with the one skipping being only 7.1. My question is how do I fix this? Can the wheel be moved on the axle, or is it one piece? I'm thousands of kilometres from a shop that I could return this to, so really am on my own in dealing with this. Also, the headlights turn off every time the engine crosses the crossover, but the taillight remains on. Not as big a deal, but thought I'd mention it in case someone has a simple solution. RMweb Premium Steven B Posted January 10, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 10, 2014 You should be able to ease appart the wheels on the axles. Just take care to ensure that the wheels stay parallel. It sounds like your power car is only picking power up from one bogie. This is easy to test - apply some power to the track and then slightly raise one bogie then the other from the track (or put some cling-film/plastic food wrap across the rails). The chances are that one bogie isn't feeding power to the chassis. I don't know the arangement on the Blue Pullmam but it's probably spring contact somewhere that needs adjusting. Happy modelling. Mike W
In terms of the back-to-back measurement, Farish do replacement wheel packs for about £6 for 10 axles so if you can get some of those on mail order, a replacement axle should sort that out. If you can't get them on mail order, PM me, I might have a spare somewhere around.
wensleydaledownunder
Thanks for the feedback. I'll see if I can ease them apart. At least if I stuff it up, I can then get spares!

The generic spares are not the same as the wheels used on the Pullman (style and diameter) - you'd have to get pullman specific spares from Bachmann.
